About Shomit
Shomit Mukherjee holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National Youth License along with a National “C” License.
As an All-District, All-Region, and All-State selection at Osbourn High School in Manassas, Virginia, he was a fullback that helped his high school team to an overall 16-1-1 record in 1996 which led to a #4 team ranking in the Washington Post. He earned the reputation as one of the state’s best defenders and led the team in minutes played.
Shomit went on to play collegiately at High Point University (NC), a member of the Big South Conference in the NCAA Division I. While at High Point, he began his coaching career with Kernersville Soccer Association (KSA). His U-14G Kernersville Lady Sting won the 2002 North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) State Cup Championship, finishing Fall 2001/Spring 2002 with an overall outdoor record of 20-0-5.
After graduating from High Point with a B.S in Sports Management and a minor in business administration, he moved back to his home state of Virginia and began coaching the U-17B Manassas Tornados along with assisting with the U-19B PWSI United. The U-17B Tornados advanced to the VYSA State Cup round of 16, losing to eventual champion Gunston Team America, while the U-19B United competed in the NCSL First Division.
At the start of 2005, he began coaching the now U-16G Arlington Express. The Express have advanced from the Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL) Division 3 to the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS) Division 3. The team has most recently won the U-15G WAGS Division 4 Championship, their third league title in a row. The team had previously won league titles in WAGS Division 5 (Fall 2007) and ODSL Divisions 1 (Spring 2007) and Division 2 (Spring 2006).
In Spring 2007, he was named the Director of the Arlington Soccer Plus program, a program that combines after-school tutoring with soccer instruction for youths across Arlington County. The program is currently in the process of expanding to other schools in Arlington County.
In the Fall of 2007, he began coaching the U-14G Arlington Eagles (ODSL Division 4 Champions) and the U-9B Attack Blue while continuing to coach the U-15G Express. Through the entire Fall 2007/Spring 2008 season, the three teams had a combined record of 31-4-16 in 51 total league games.
All four losses were by one goal.
