Rising U-17G Annandale Express advance to WAGS Division 1; will be applying for entry into WAGS Champions Division
A congratulations is in order to the players of the U-16G Annandale Express as they have advanced to U-17G WAGS Division 1 for Fall 2009 after finishing as runner-up in U-16G WAGS Division 2 in Spring 2009. The Express have continued their incredible run of league play, compiling a record of 32-4-6 since the start of 2007, while advancing from the Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL) Division 3 to WAGS Division 1 during a span of four and a half years, beginning in Spring 2005.
In WAGS D2 play in Spring 2009, the Express started off on the wrong foot, losing their first two games. However, the players responded to the difficult situation in a very positive manner. After the two early losses, the team reeled off five straight wins, shutting out every opponent during that winning streak.
The Express earned the runner-up position in Division 2 based on WAGS rule H-3, which is in bold below:
3. At the end of the season, if a division is unable to
complete its matches for whatever reason, final standings will be
determined by points per game.
Annandale Express finished with 2.0 points per game, in comparision to SAC United I, who finished with 1.88 points per game.
The WAGS standings will be reflected accurately after teams in all age groups have been notified of promotion/relegation status.
The Express will conduct tryouts this week and are in the process of preparing for competition in US Club Soccer’s Southeast Regional League. Visit the team’s website for more information:

National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) coaching education
I have recently registered with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and hope to take some of their coaching education courses this summer. In addition to the USSF licenses that I have already completed (”C” and National Youth License), I plan on attending other USSF courses as well. If the NSCAA courses are even remotely close to the calibar of instruction that was set forth at the USSF courses held in Virginia, I will be satisfied. If you are a coach who is interested in taking these courses, you can find the links to NSCAA and USSF here:
